Keys left inside
Tell the locksmith whether the door simply closed behind you or whether you locked it with a key.
Apartment & house lockouts
Keys left inside or lost on the way home? We always start with non-destructive entry. If drilling or a new part is ever unavoidable, we explain why first and go ahead only with your approval.

Tell the locksmith whether the door simply closed behind you or whether you locked it with a key.
Opening the door solves access. Ask separately about rekeying or replacing the cylinder so missing keys no longer work.
A failing lock, door alignment or a damaged key may need a different repair. Avoid forcing the key or handle.
Be ready to establish your right to enter. If your identification is inside, discuss an acceptable verification process before work begins.
Have the technician inspect the hardware, explain the entry options and identify any risk of damage or need for replacement parts.
Approve the work and price before it starts. After access is restored, check that the door closes and the lock operates correctly.
The number of locked mechanisms, their condition, the time of the visit and any replacement parts affect the job. An opening charge and a replacement lock are different items.
See our price guide for planning ranges, then confirm the scope and total for your door before work begins.
Is there a call-out fee? What does the opening price include? Are parts extra? What would change the estimate? Is there a charge if I cancel?
In most cases, yes. We start with non-destructive entry to protect your door and hardware. If a lock cannot be opened that way, we explain the options and drill or replace parts only with your approval.
Confirm an arrival estimate for your exact address when contacting the business. Travel time and on-site work time are separate, and neither can be guaranteed.
If you live in a managed building, ask the superintendent, front desk or managing agent whether they can help with access and what authorization a visiting contractor needs.
Once you regain access, consider who might have the keys. Ask about rekeying compatible hardware or replacing a cylinder; opening the door alone does not invalidate a missing key.
